The lavender essential oil is extracted by steam distillation. As with all essential oils, it is a complex mixture of organic compounds.

Lavender oil contains monoterpenes (90%) and sesquiterpenes polymers (10%). The main components are linalilatsetat (30-55%) and linalool (27-46%). Also contained limonene, ocimene, terpineol and others.
